Summary

The Director, Central Pharmacy Services Center provides expert leadership in the planning, coordination, and direction of the central pharmacy services center (CPSC) for the enterprise. This includes, but is not limited to providing safe, effective and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical care. The CPSC Director is responsible for the leadership and direction of the operational functions associated with pharmacy services, including central pharmacy and central fill operations along with assisting in oversight of pharmacy automation. The Director of CPSC ensures efficiency and compliance of these key operational areas with optimizing staffing, workflow and drug utilization. The Director of CPSC works closely with the Chief Pharmacy Officer on capital and operating budgets, including operational oversight of the CPSC and the annual pharmaceutical budget.

Job Description:

Baptist Health is looking for a Director of Central Pharmacy in LaGrange, KY!

  • Assists with developing an organizational plan for central pharmacy distribution and outpatient pharmacy services consistent with the scope of services provided by the pharmacy.

  • Responsible for leading and supporting managers and supervisors in developing and improving services to create optimal performance levels.

  • Assures adequate staffing levels and performs periodic staffing level assessments. Ensures effective allocation of resources for warehouse management and distribution services at CPSC.

  • Develops operational and capital budgets and manages operating expenses and key indicators within the budget for the CPSC.

  • Develops, implements, coordinates, monitors, evaluates, and integrates pharmacy services that contribute to the overall success and financial viability of the pharmacy department.

  • In partnership with the Chief Pharmacy officer develops programs, goals, and objectives consistent with those of the Department of Pharmacy Service's overall strategic plan and initiatives.

  • Develops and maintains pharmacy policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with state, federal and applicable regulatory agency standards, including but not limited to Board of Pharmacy, DEA, and applicable regulatory bodies (e.g., ACHC).

  • Assures pharmacy-related continuous improvement in quality and patient safety. Remains current on developing trends in quality improvement and patient safety and coordinates with Pharmacy leaders to implement best practices.

  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of 340b program and assures program compliance.

  • Assist in developing key pharmacy business process models to be implemented within all the facilities.

  • Manages staff resources by overseeing the recruiting, selecting, hiring, and orienting of qualified individuals.

  • Evaluates staff performance in an accurate, consistent, objective, and timely manner.

  • Develops core position hiring strategies and ensures opportunities for professional development for pharmacy staff.

  • Creates a cohesive pharmacy team committed to providing efficient and quality pharmacy services.

  • Cultivates a culture of safety, accountability, and fosters opportunities for pharmacy staff development.

  • Works with System Director of Automation and other BH leaders to implement, integrate, and maintain evidence-based and regulatory standards of clinical/operational pharmacy services with the overall vision for the organization.

  • Ensures the delivery of efficient, optimal, and quality pharmacy services for Baptist Healthcare System, Inc. [BH], BH hospitals, Baptist Health Medical Group [BHMG], and all entities or affiliates of which BH is a majority member, and outpatients.

  • Develop relationships with key hospital, community pharmacy, BHMG, ambulatory surgery center, and medical staff to aid and assist with distributive functions.

  • May participate on hospital and medical staff committees and serves as a professional pharmacy resource for medical, nursing, other healthcare professionals, and hospital leaders.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Master's degree in business administration, or Healthcare Finance preferred, or Doctorate of Pharmacy.

  • Current Kentucky Pharmacist license required.

  • Must obtain Indiana Pharmacist License within 1 year.

  • 5 years related work experience required.

  • 3 years supervisory/management experience required.
