Overview Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington. With a track record of global leadership in bone marrow transplantation, HIV/AIDS prevention, immunotherapy and COVID-19 vaccines, Fred Hutch has earned a reputation as one of the world's leading cancer, infectious disease and biomedical research centers. Fred Hutch operates eight clinical care sites that provide medical oncology, infusion, radiation, proton therapy and related services, and network affiliations with hospitals in five states. Together, our fully integrated research and clinical care teams seek to discover new cures to the world's deadliest diseases and make life beyond cancer a reality. The FHIL is a collaborative initiative of the Immunotherapy and Translational Data Science Integrated Research Centers (IIRC and TDS_IRC) with a mission to advance the introduction and development of new immuno-oncology research technologies. The FHIL spurs in-house development and early adoption of novel techniques, including advanced single cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, T- and B-cell receptor sequencing, and other DNA/RNA-based technologies. FHIL is located in the historic Steam Plant building under the direction of Dr. Evan Newell. The successful candidate will work with a team of technicians and data scientists. The successful candidate will test and compare new technologies, assist in protocol development, and use these technologies to support ongoing research in immune oncology. This person will be responsible for executing experiments with new protocols and generating NGS data and spatial imaging data to compare technologies in collaboration with computational biology collaborators. The technician will perform bench-level experiments, operate analytical instruments, and compile and summarize experimental data. The technician will also maintain detailed laboratory records, analyze data, and report on experimental results. This position requires a high level of organization, a keen eye for detail, and accurate and thorough record-keeping.
