POSITION SUMMARY:

The Medical Transcriptionist performs transcription functions, word processing, communication, and clerical functions effectively and accurately assures that the department's needs are met in a timely manner. Possesses strong communication skills, high attention to detail and can be relied upon for dependable and consistent work output.

Hours: Day Shift, 40 Hours Per Week

Location: St. Petersburg, FL

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:



  1. Transcribes and interprets original dictations and audio recordings adhering to quality metrics and turnaround goals and analyzes electronic medical records to ensure complete and accurate documentation in compliance with organizational and regulatory guidelines
  2. Ensures health information is current, complete and accurate through quality assurance procedures resulting in a complete and accurate medical record
  3. Performs clerical services according to protocols; organizes work and completes duties; uses hospital approved version of computer software for reports and projects; uses effective communication skills (both verbal and non-verbal) which foster positive employee relations, maintaining privacy and confidentiality
  4. Meets productivity and quality standards for assignments resulting in successful completion of department goals.
  5. Processes and monitors distribution of report(s); maintains files and scans reports received


Organizes and maintains health information media and materials resulting in availability of complete and accurate patient records



  1. Assists in facilitating referrals and maintaining documentation; validates and releases health information following department procedures resulting in compliance of regulatory requirements
  2. Supports and sustains mission, vision, and values of the organization
  3. Follows compliance mandatories, regulatory, and accrediting requirements
  4. Performs special assignments and other duties as requested



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • A minimum of a High School diploma, GED, Certificate of Completion or equivalent achievement.
  • 2 years' experience as a medical or general secretary or clerk
  • Proficient in medical terminology, transcription of recorded dictation and computerized word and data processing
  • Ability to understand and react effectively to the age-specific needs unique to patients
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and efficiency; possess problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Possess proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to perform computer work for extended periods of time


Salary Range: Minimum 17.97/hour - Maximum 28.74/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
