You'll Support Meaningful Work By:

  • Providing people-focused technical direction and business guidance to the Operations Manufacturing Engineering team to improve overall customer experience.
  • Cultivating processes and guiding the team to ensure quality production, including developing and improving the plant's quality systems.
  • Developing and maintaining a high-performing engineering team that supports the manufacturing plant through daily operational monitoring.
  • Leading production process improvements, resolving manufacturing problems, and investigating future-focused transformational production changes.
  • Ensuring adherence to and compliance with established company quality policies and practices.
  • Managing investigations and root cause identification for quality issues and achieving immediate and permanent corrective actions.
  • Interpreting, executing, and recommending policy and procedure changes to consistently enhance the customer experience and overall product quality.
  • Continually seeking innovative methods for improving team performance and the plant's quality and profitability.
  • Serving as consultant to other management and is considered the Operations Manufacturing engineering resource for plant management cross functional team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Engineering or equivalent education; preferred degrees in mechanical, industrial, or process/operations engineering.
  • 7-10+ years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of management experience.
  • Extensive experience in Quality or related fields, including product or manufacturing engineering.
  • solving skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering technology applicable to a manufacturing environment.
  • depth understanding of manufacturing processes and production concepts.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • 4+ years engineering management experience.
  • ASQ certifications.
  • Expertise in lean line design, flow, and throughput improvements.
  • Ability to motivate and effectively lead technical engineering personnel.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively across all levels of management.
  • pressure situations.
  • Experience with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing tools.
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership ability
  • Advanced level of computer skills including CAD exposure
  • Directs Operations Manufacturing engineering activities and assignments for both run and change the business support
  • Ensures an active cost reduction program is properly staffed and supported to achieve set fiscal targets
  • Ability to champion continuous improvement and experience with lean manufacturing tools
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of quality sciences and quality systems
  • Able to design and implement quality control procedures for critical processes
  • Knowledgeable about product and process costing and calculation of cost savings

The starting annual base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $145,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Steelcase considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
