ArentFox Schiff is seeking a Senior Associate for the 7th year associate class or above or Counsel to join its Private Clients, Trusts & Estates group in our Chicago office. In addition to being licensed and in good standing in Illinois, requirements include:

  • Strong academic record and professional skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organization skills
  • Experience managing client projects from inception to conclusion, including but not limited to, preparing the task list and timeline, holding internal and external team members accountable to timeline, identifying impact of new facts and circumstances on plan and adapting plan as needed, leading the team to project conclusion, identifying ongoing tasks generated by the plan
  • Extremely detail oriented
  • Willingness to step in on short notice to complete projects to meet client deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client projects and supervise younger attorneys
The attorney filling this position will be working primarily with two partners who are excellent practitioners and who each have active high-volume practices. Both partners need additional experienced assistance from someone who can second chair very large matters and also take charge and independently manage other matters. This position is envisioned to include ongoing and extensive work on a number of significant multi-line and multi-generational client matters. This attorney's responsibilities will include advising family offices, developing and effectuating sophisticated lifetime and testamentary planning strategies, and being directly active in and supervising others in research and projection of tax implications of planning techniques, preparation of client educational and summary materials, and meeting and communicating directly with clients to advance their goals.

We believe this role is a good fit for someone who wants to pursue a very sophisticated law firm practice within a large, rapidly growing, and collegial Private Clients Group and develop ongoing relationships with key clients. There will be ample opportunity for the attorney to further develop their own business network and book of client business. The position is based in our Chicago office, with flexibility to take advantage of our Lake Forest office as well. We can offer flexibility for this position such as remote days, reduced hours and/or a flexible schedule.

The good faith base salary range for this position is a minimum of $320,000 to a maximum of $375,000 per year. The actual salary rate offered to candidates within that range will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, years of relevant experience, education, applicable bar admissions, and the candidate's overall qualifications for the position as assessed by the Firm. In addition to a competitive base salary, we offer a comprehensive bonus system with opportunities for discretionary incentives that may include productivity, business development, and merit-based components, subject to applicable policies.
