Job Description




As a Security Officer - Armed University Patrol in Richmond, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer supporting a government location, you will conduct routine patrols, remain highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and respond to alarms and access concerns with clear communication and professionalism. This post requires an armed guard card/license. At Allied Universal, you will bring agility and reliability to each shift, support teammates with a caring, people-first approach, and act with integrity while delivering outstanding service.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and contractors at a government location by following security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Carry a duty weapon in accordance with licensing requirements, post orders, and Allied Universal policies while maintaining professional conduct and clear communication.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner and notify appropriate personnel and/or public authorities as directed.
  • Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of buildings, grounds, and perimeter areas, noting unusual activity, unsecured doors, and/or suspicious conditions.
  • Complete security-related reports and logs, document incidents and patrol activity, and assist with access control by monitoring entry points and verifying identification as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess an armed guard card/license.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
