Fire Protection Technician

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Fire Protection Technician to join our life safety team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire suppression and signaling systems. You are an essential partner in safety, helping to ensure our clients' facilities are compliant and their occupants are protected.

• Inspections & Testing: Perform routine inspections and functional testing of fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and backflow preventers, guided by NFPA standards.

• Maintenance & Repair: Identify solutions for system issues and perform necessary repairs on fire panels, smoke detectors, pull stations, and suppression systems.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate digital records of all inspections, service reports, and deficiency findings to support client compliance with local fire codes. Emergency Response: Participate in a collaborative on-call rotation to address emergency system needs or fire watch requirements.

• Customer Service: Serve as a trusted advisor for clients, explaining system operations and fostering understanding regarding necessary upgrades or repairs.

• Shares expertise on materials or equipment such as structural components protection, fire detection equipment, alarm systems, fire extinguishing devices and systems, and provides guidance on location, handling, installation, and maintenance. Picks up and delivers fire extinguishers to customers after repairs or testing have been completed.

• Supports adequate stock levels at customers locations.

• Connects clients with new or additional products or services to enhance their safety. Maintains safe, well-stocked company vehicles.

• Clean Record:Must possess a valid driver's license and pass a background check (essential for entering high-security client sites).

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in industrial operations is a plus.

• Certifications:NICET Level I or II in Fire Alarm Systems or Water-Based Systems (preferred/required).

• Technical Knowledge:Strong understanding ofNFPA 72(National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code) andNFPA 25(Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems).

• Manual Dexterity:Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 lbs.

• Tool Proficiency:Experience using multimeters, pipe wrenches, and specialized diagnostic software.

• Prefer, but not required, one year certificate from college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Prefer, but not required, certification in Fire Extinguisher and Ansul R102 Hood Fire Suppression System.
