What to Expect

Consider before submitting an application:

This position is expected to start May 2026 and continue throughsummerterm (endingapproximately August 2026or later, if available). We ask for a minimum of12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships.Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program.Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

About the Team

Tesla isseekinga highly motivated Software Engineering Intern for the Wireless Systems team to help develop best in class telematics solutions. The role involves embedded software design and development of wireless telematics systems across cellular (LTE and 5G),WiFiand Bluetooth technologies for Tesla vehicle platforms (CyberTruck, S, 3, X, Y, ...). The position requires working closely with cross-functional teams as well as external suppliers.The abilityto workindependently andcreatively solving challenging design problems is of paramount importance. This position involves working in a dynamic andfast-pacedenvironment with tight timing constraints.


What You'll Do
  • New hardware bring-up, development of customer facing features, and resolution of issues reported by QA and service teams

  • Collaborate with technology vendors to integrate software stack into Tesla operating system

  • Develop telemetry and analytics platform enabling data collection, analysis and visualization of data reported from Tesla fleet

  • Provide support to QA, manufacturing, and other software teams

  • Rapid prototyping and evaluation of Tesla's next generation wireless platforms

  • Implement continuous improvements and best practices within the team, and larger organization


What You'll Bring
  • Currently pursuing a Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science / Engineering, or a related field
  • Highly Skilled at C++ andLinux programming
  • Experience in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, ElectricalEngineeringor proof of exceptional skills in related fields with practical software engineering experience
  • Good understanding of computer architecture, algorithms, Embedded Systems and OS concepts (Linux/RTOS)
  • Familiarity with wireless technologies (Cellular/WiFi/Bluetooth/BLE) is a big plus
  • Knowledge of embedded interfaces (UART, I2C, I2S, SPI, CAN, PCIe, etc.) is a plus but notrequired

    Expected Compensation
    $20.00 - $50.00/hour + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
