Functions in the roles of change agent, mentor, facilitator of learning, leader, champion of scientific inquiry (application of research, evidence based practice and improvement science), and partner for clinical practice transitions.

Scope of Work

Using tools of consulting, mentoring, coaching and interprofessional collaboration, the nurse educator facilitates the professional role development and growth of nurses and other healthcare personnel along the continuum from novice to expert.

Functions in the roles of change agent, mentor, facilitator of learning, leader, champion of scientific inquiry (application of research, evidence based practice and improvement science), and partner for clinical practice transitions.

Nurse educators are REQUIRED to obtain their nursing administration or professional/specialty certification within 12 months of assuming the role, or within 12 months of achieving eligibility to sit for the exam if not eligible upon hire in to the role.
  • Develop and deliver onboarding, orientation, and ongoing education for research staff to support safe, regulatory compliant conduct of research and generation of high-quality data.
  • Design, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate educational programs for multidisciplinary research teams.
  • Develop targeted training to address gaps in research knowledge, skills, and good clinical practice.
  • Serve as a mentor, coach, and resource to research staff across the professional development continuum.
  • Support interprofessional learning and collaboration to strengthen research quality and compliance.
  • Maintain proficiency with institutional learning technologies (e.g., Workday Learning, Articulate).
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives such as policy implementation education, education resource management, and development of tracking tools.
  • Lead or participate in cross-departmental projects addressing education priorities identified by CHRI leadership.
  • Build relationships with multidisciplinary partners and support practice change that advances research education and operational excellence.
Qualifications
  • Required Bachelor's Degree Nursing
  • Preferred Master's Degree Nursing Education or Adult Education
  • 5 years of relevant experience clinical experience related to area of focus Required
  • Education and program development Preferred
  • LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
  • CRT-Specialty Certification - UNKNOWN Unknown Refer to job summary for more information required
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association Emergency Department, Critical Care, Surgical Services, Endoscopy, Procedural Areas, Cath Lab/ Electrophysiology, Pediatric Sedation 120 Days required
  • Research Nurse Educators are REQUIRED to obtain national research certification (CCRC or SoCRA) within 12 months of assuming the role or within 12 months of achieving eligibility to sit the exam, if not eligible upon hire to the role
