This role is responsible for owning business engagement end-to-end, deeply understanding business strategy, roadmap, priorities, and pain points, and translating them into clear, outcome-driven data and analytics demand.

The ideal candidate brings strong business acumen, data and analytics fluency, and change management expertise to ensure work delivered across foundational data, data quality, reporting, analytics, and data availability is aligned to enterprise strategy and delivers measurable business value. This role operates as a strategic connector and change lead, enabling scalable, trusted data solutions while driving adoption across the business.

Position Responsibilities

Job SummaryThe Principal Data Strategist: Finance Business Engagement Partner serves as the primary data and analytics liaison for the finance business function. This role is responsible for building deep partnerships with business leaders, understanding strategic priorities, and translating complex business needs into scalable, outcome-driven data and analytics solutions. The position drives adoption of data initiatives, champions automation and AI-ready approaches, and ensures alignment between business objectives and data roadmaps. The ideal candidate is a trusted advisor, skilled in change leadership, and passionate about enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary data and analytics partner for the assigned business function, developing a deep understanding of business strategy, KPIs, and decision-making needs.
  • Own end-to-end business engagement, from intake and clarification through delivery alignment and post-delivery feedback.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and change leader, driving adoption of data and analytics solutions through effective communication, training, and enablement.
  • Champion automation and AI-ready approaches to reduce manual effort, improve scalability, and enable advanced analytics.
  • Represent the business function in data and analytics prioritization and roadmap discussions, providing informed input based on business context and data expertise.
  • Contribute to evaluating demand against delivery capacity, dependencies, and roadmap commitments.
  • Translate business challenges into clear, outcome-focused data, reporting, and analytics requirements.
  • Guide stakeholders toward effective solutions, ensuring demand is scalable, reusable, and aligned with broader data strategy.
  • Lead delivery of data and analytics initiatives, validating scope, outcomes, and success measures at key milestones.
  • Drive regular business function readouts for alignment and ensure solutions are adoption-ready.
  • Partner with data, analytics, and platform teams to contribute business input into critical data elements, metrics, and definitions.
  • Support adoption of data quality standards and governance practices, promoting reuse, standardization, and reduction of duplicative solutions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience operating as a senior business partner in data, analytics, or technology-enabled transformation roles supporting finance.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive change across business and technical teams.
  • Strong experience shaping and prioritizing demand in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Experience engaging with global and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to translate business needs into actionable data and analytics requirements.
  • Track record of leading delivery of cross-functional initiatives from concept through adoption.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise data concepts, including data quality, reporting layers, analytics, and governance.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Passion for data-driven decision-making, scalable solutions, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in SaaS technology B2B companies.
  • Experience applying automation or AI to improve data stewardship, reporting, or analytics workflows.
  • Strong data storytelling and visualization skills.
  • Background in process design, data quality, or analytics-driven transformation.
  • Experience in SaaS or technology-driven organizations.
  • Degree in business, finance, operations, information systems, or a related field.

Compensation Info

The U.S. salary range for this position is $86,500.00-$152,500.00. This range is subject to change as Deltek takes a number of factors into consideration when determining individual base pay, such as location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including incentive compensation and equity.
