Job Description

Position Summary
The Summer Student role is designed to provide college students the opportunity to learn about AltaGas and gain meaningful, hands-on experience in a professional environment that aligns with their career goals.

Tasks and Responsibilities
* Eligibility for summer employment will be determined as follows:
* The student must be between the ages of 18 and 25.
* The student must plan to be enrolled as a full-time student for the 2022 fall semester.
* The student must be driving and possess a valid driver's license for at least a year, and be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Safe Driving Policy.
* The student must be a child of an active employee, disabled employee, or retiree.
* Only one student per eligible employee or retiree will be hired as a summer employee per year.
* A maximum of 4 years of employment is available for each eligible student.
* (These last three restrictions may be waived based on business needs or geo

graphic availability.)

In this role you will:

  • Conduct neighborhood and residential-area outreach by distributing MISS DIG 811 door hangers and safedigging educational materials.

  • Visit residential construction sites, municipalities, rental equipment businesses, and contractors involved in irrigation, landscaping, fencing, decks, pool, etc installation to promote MISS DIG 811 awareness.

  • Engage with homeowners and community members to reinforce the importance of contacting MISS DIG 811 before any digging project.

  • Support SEMCO operations teams by assisting with community education efforts and helping reinforce safe digging practices in the field.

  • Share information on safe digging practices that protect workers, the public, underground infrastructure, and the environment.

  • Help ensure homeowners understand proper procedures, including submitting a MISS DIG ticket before excavation, promoting responsible digging and reducing excavationrelated incidents.
