| Job Description |
We are seeking a tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to teach introductory through advanced-level Computer Science courses and conduct research. Candidates should have a Ph.D. or be
ABD in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field, with at least 18 graduate credit hours in these disciplines, and demonstrate teaching or industry experience, an active research agenda, and evidence of ongoing or planned scholarly publications.
Candidates who are
ABD could start at the Instructor rank and salary and move to Assistant Professor after successful completion of the Ph.D. In this case, the candidate would be expected to complete the Ph.D. within one year of the official start date at
UNC Pembroke. Instruction may be in face-to-face, hybrid, or online modalities. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the candidate will advise undergraduate majors and mentor research projects. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a strong, externally funded research program in areas that complement their teaching and existing departmental strengths. Candidates for Associate Professor should meet the UNCP's current expectations for this rank by demonstrating the ability to meet the standards of performance expected at this rank. These include appropriate time in rank at the Assistant Professor level, an established, externally funded research program, active and significant peer-reviewed research publications in the years preceding application, and a substantial service record at various levels.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach a broad range of CS and IT courses effectively, Courses may be assigned across all levels of the undergraduate curriculum in areas such as object-oriented programming (Java, C++), event-driven programming, data structures, computer architecture, software engineering, web technologies and security, operating systems design and security, networking and security, systems integration, systems assurance, digital logic and design, human-computer interaction, video game development, database management, artificial intelligence, data science, and cybersecurity.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to design course materials aligned with
CAE-CD and
ABET accreditation standards, participate actively in student learning outcomes assessment, and contribute to student success through engagement with student clubs and co-curricular activities.
Salary and academic rank are commensurate with directly related education and experience.
