R&D Medical Intern

Job Summary: To support the development of profitable new products to aid in the growth of the Velcro companies' medical business (including prototyping, sample preparation, and working in a team environment).

Essential Job Functions:

• Review test methods used for evaluating medical devices with inflatable bladders. If required, collaborate with R&D lab manager to develop test methods.
• Design and build fixtures for testing medical devices with inflatable bladders.
• Identify various materials that can be used to form airtight bladders and the vendors that can provide said materials.
• Evaluate the manufacturability of medical devices with inflatable bladders using different material combinations. Use lab equipment including but not limited to RF welders, ultrasonic welders, sewing machines and heat sealers.
• Identify and work with suppliers who design and manufacture automation equipment.

Job Qualifications:

• Third or fourth year student pursuing BS Degree in Engineering discipline.
• Experience with Solidworks or other CAD software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft office.
• Proficient in data analysis. Minitab experience preferred.
• Ability to prepare concise reports.
• Ability to present to small groups.
