We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Visual FoxPro) to join our project team at a major Federal agency to help design, develop, and implement solutions in anticipation of an upcoming award.

U.S. citizenship is required for this role. In addition, the selected applicant must submit to a government background investigation and be favorably adjudicated before their first day.

The selected candidate will ideally live within commuting distance of Washington, D.C. as there may be occasional onsite work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Support the modernization of Visual FoxPro applications to Angular, Node.js Front-end development for a major upgrade effort for a high visibility customer
  • Convert existing AngularJS (1.x) front-end to the latest version, Angular (10+)
  • Design innovative solutions to meet user demands
  • Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle including design, development, and testing
  • Participate in Agile Scrum planning and development processes


Work in an environment using the following technology stack:



  • Visual FoxPro (VFP), Angular, Node.js, Electron, Cordova, D3.js
  • Amazon RDS (PostgreSQL, Aurora, or DynamoDB), Microsoft Visual FoxPro
  • AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, Microservices, Containers), Cerberus FTP.


  • Ensure that existing functionality continues to meet requirements post-refactoring by interacting closely with BA and QA staff
  • Work independently based on direction established by the Tech Lead and defined during planning activities
  • Document all application/code using version control practices


REQUIRED SKILLS:



  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as a software developer
  • 5+ years of experience with Visual FoxPro
  • Experience with Angular, Node.js, Electron, and Cordova
  • Working knowledge of AWS and Microsoft Visual FoxPro
  • Familiarity with RESTful API architecture and practices
  • Independent problem-solving skills, strong analytical abilities, creativity, and a clear appreciation of end-customer needs
  • Ability to onboard and learn quickly
  • Demonstrates excellent grammar and spelling in written communication
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear technical documentation
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum software practices, service-oriented environments and development best practices
  • Proficiency with Atlassian suite including Jira
  • Experience with a version control system such as GitHub




EDUCATION:



  • Bachelor's Degree (Computer Science, Information Technology, or related preferred)

Salary: $115,000-$125,000

All individuals being hired to work for TCG must submit to, and successfully pass, a pre-employment background investigation prior to reporting for their first day of work. The pre-employment background investigation will include verification of employment and education, as well as, a criminal and DMV check.

Additional documentation and background checks will also be required for positions that require clearance from the Federal government.
