Job Summary

The Associate Director of Information Technology will manage the daily operations of the IT department, ensuring that technology services align with the institution's strategic direction. This role includes leading IT staff, developing and enforcing policies, and guiding the adoption of innovative technology solutions to improve institutional performance. Additionally, the role includes setting team goals, designing effective organizational structures, evaluating performance, providing feedback, making compensation decisions, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Oversee the daily operations of the information technology department, ensuring that all technology services and support are delivered efficiently and effectively.

Job Duty 2 -
Develop and implement Information Technology policies and procedures that align with institutional goals and promote best practices in technology management.

Job Duty 3 -
Manage and mentor Information Technology staff, providing guidance and support to enhance their professional development and performance.

Job Duty 4 -
Coordinate the planning and execution of Information Technology projects, ensuring that resources are allocated appropriately and that timelines are met.

Job Duty 5 -
Assess the technology needs of the institution and recommend solutions that enhance operational efficiency and support strategic initiatives.

Job Duty 6 -
Monitor and manage Information Technology budgets, ensuring that expenditures align with institutional priorities and financial constraints.

Job Duty 7 -
Foster collaboration and communication between Information Technology and other departments, ensuring that technology solutions support the overall mission of the institution.

Job Duty 8 -
Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends, evaluating their potential impact on the institution and recommending adoption as appropriate.

Job Duty 9 -
Serve as a key point of contact for faculty, staff, and administration regarding Information Technology issues and initiatives, facilitating effective communication and problem resolution.

Job Duty 10 -
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent, related experience.

Required Experience
6+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years of supervisory knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree in related discipline or equivalent, related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Information Technology within a facilities, operations, or infrastructure focused organization

  • Exposure to or experience supporting facilities related enterprise systems (e.g., work order management, asset management, space management, or project management platforms)

  • Understanding of how Information Technology enables operational continuity and service delivery in mission critical environments.

  • Experience working in higher education, research, or public-sector environments

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non technical stakeholders.

  • Experience leveraging technology to streamline operational processes and improve efficiency

  • Interest in emerging technologies that support smart campus, facilities analytics, or operational intelligence

  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with non technical stakeholders, including operations, facilities leadership, and executive teams

  • Proven ability to lead teams that support diverse user groups with varying technical skill levels

  • Experience managing technology budgets that include enterprise software licensing models, hardware procurement, and vendor provided services for both on prem and SAAS/ cloud solutions

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires working knowledge of unit level information technology infrastructure including related software and hardware. Skills in strategic planning, budget formulation and management, management of technical professionals, oral and written communication, IT policy development and administration, project management, process engineering/reengineering, relational database administration and application of performance metrics is required.

Salary Range: $116,775.00 -$182,773.00
