Department Summary The Office of Civil Rights is dedicated to promoting a campus environment where all students, staff, faculty, and administrators can learn, work, and thrive free from discrimination, harassment in accordance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and related state law and university policy. The Civil Rights Office responds to reports of harassment, discrimination, and related retaliation based on protected status including race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity). The office provides supportive measures, explains reporting options, and oversees and ensures a fair and equitable process for all parties involved in a complaint. In addition to responding to concerns, the Civil Rights Office plays a key role in prevention and education. We offer training, workshops, and resources to build awareness, reduce risks, and strengthen UCLA's culture of respect, safety, and accountability. Position Summary The UCLA Civil Rights Office is looking for a director to lead Health Center-related investigative oversight of harassment and discrimination matters within UCLA's Civil Rights Office. Reporting to the Assistant Vice Chancellor & Chief Civil Rights Officer, this Director will: Lead complex investigations involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and patient-care-related concerns Supervise and mentor a team of 5-6 investigators Strengthen systems, policies, and compliance practices across the Health Enterprise Serve as Section 1557 Co-Coordinator Advise senior leadership on risk mitigation and best practices We're seeking an experienced, trauma-informed investigative leader with deep expertise in Title VI, VII, IX, ADA/504, ACA Section 1557, and related civil rights laws - ideally within higher education and/or academic medical center environments. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.
