Position Summary
The Center for Research on Women and Gender (CRWG) within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a highly motivated Graduate Hourly Research Assistant to support research initiatives focused on the management of Sickle Cell Disease in Pregnancy. The Graduate Hourly Research Assistant will collaborate closely with Principal Investigators and multidisciplinary research teams to assist with the development, implementation, and dissemination of clinical research projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Principal Investigators and research staff to support research activities, including drafting IRB applications and modifications, designing and creating REDCap databases, developing case report forms, data collection, cleaning, and analysis, and summarizing research findings.
  • Coordinate and communicate with national and international researchers and study participants.
  • Schedule and facilitate research meetings with domestic and global collaborators.
  • Support research subject recruitment, screening, and scheduling.
  • Assist in research grant development, including drafting background sections and conducting literature reviews.
  • Copy edit and format grant applications, manuscripts, and presentations to ensure compliance with submission requirements.
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations and research posters.
  • Assist with reporting and dissemination of research findings through publications and presentations.
  • Replicate, refine, and implement research methodologies based on project needs.
  • Perform other research-related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current enrollment in a graduate program at UIC.
  • Prior experience working on a research time.
  • Completion of CITI training prior to start date

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Academic background, demonstrated interest, or experience in maternal health, obstetrical care, sickle cell disease, or global health.
  • Experience with REDCap database development, NVivo software, clinical research, qualitative research methodologies, scientific writing, and manuscript preparation.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
