About the Fixed Income Team: This department is responsible for the research, management and trading of all fixed income securities and the execution of all currency transactions. The Fixed Income Research Department has research analysts and associates who analyze the credit quality of issuers and issues being considered for purchase or currently held in the portfolios. They analyze industry factors, company fundamentals and debt structure issues. It is their responsibility to make buy-hold-sell recommendations based on the relative value of the security in the market place. Job Summary:We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Fixed Income Research Associate. In this role, you will support the credit analysis and research of structured product bonds, with a primary focus on Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS). You will work closely with analysts and portfolio managers to provide insights into commercial real estate fundamentals and their implications on broader financial markets. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong analytical skills and an interest in investing to gain hands-on experience in the fixed income investment space. Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in conducting credit analysis of various structured product bonds, with a primary focus on CMBS.
  • Analyze commercial real estate fundamentals relevant to the investments under review.
  • Collect and organize financial data, performance metrics, and other relevant information from databases, financial statements, and third-party research.
  • Assist in developing financial models, property underwriting, and credit decision-making processes.
  • Support analysts and portfolio managers by providing insights into the fundamental drivers of assigned sectors and their impact on the broader Fixed Income and Equity markets.
  • Collaborate with Research Associates, Analysts, and Portfolio Managers to deliver high-quality research and analysis.
  • Take on additional projects and responsibilities as needed to support the team's objectives.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Open to candidates from all academic backgrounds; strong critical thinking and analytical skills are essential.
  • A background in commercial real estate is a plus but not required.
  • Coursework in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Statistics is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize and present large amounts of information concisely.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently on complex projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with financial modeling is a plus.

At MFS, we believe in fair and transparent compensation. For that reason, we're including the salary range for this position. This range reflects our good-faith expectation forwhat we'll pay depending on the candidate's experience, training and education. In addition to the salary, we also offer significant and competitive incentive compensationbased on both individual and company performance. Other components of our Total Rewards Package include:
