Performs a variety of food service activities such as preparing, pouring and portioning food, delivering meals to patients, and washing pots. Maintains the cleanliness of work area and equipment. Assures the timely plating of all foods by preparing tray line for the plating and serving of all food by setting up all cooked and prepared foods, dishes, trays flatware, etc, at stations. Ensure Patient receives an accurate and complete food tray. Removes rubbish as needed to include but not limited to kitchen, hot and cold production area, ingredient room, storeroom, pot washing area, tray assembly area and cafeteria.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, pour, and portion food according to departmental standards and diet specifications.
  • Set up tray line stations by organizing all cooked and prepared foods, trays, dishes, flatware, and serving equipment.
  • Ensure timely plating and serving of all meals.
  • Deliver accurate and complete meal trays to patients, following dietary guidelines and restrictions.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all work areas, including counters, equipment, and food production spaces.
  • Wash pots, pans, utensils, and other food service equipment.
  • Remove rubbish from designated areas, including the kitchen, hot and cold production areas, ingredient room, storeroom, pot washing area, tray assembly line, and cafeteria.
  • Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures in compliance with hospital standards.
  • Assist with restocking food items, supplies, and equipment at various stations.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth meal service operations.
  • Report equipment or safety concerns promptly.
  • Support other food service tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior food service or hospitality experience desirable, especially in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow written or verbal instructions in English.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding dietary accuracy and sanitation.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and lift/carry up to 25-30 lbs as needed.
