HJF is seeking a Audio Visual Technician to provide support to employees or internal customers in resolving complex or escalated technology issues. This role oversees the completion of day-to-day operations with emphasis on team goals in resolution of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) based incidents and requests within designated Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Responsible for proper deployment and maintenance of endpoints from procurement to retirement. Troubleshoots software and hardware issues on endpoints, peripherals, and Internet of Things (IoT). Plays a direct role in conference room technology management. Oftentimes, this role is a team lead.

The position is located in the Office of the Vice President for Information and Educational Technology (CIO), Multidiscipline Laboratories (MDL) at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, MD.

  • Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints.
  • Evaluates equipment specifications and requests and make recommendations on new equipment and maintenance requests.
  • Be able to operate and troubleshoot projectors, microphone devices, PC's, and Video Conferencing systems (AMX, Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Shure, Planar, and Polycom).
  • Be able to perform routine maintenance and ensure A/V equipment is clean and organized.
  • Reconfigure furniture within conference/meeting rooms and ensure all necessary preparations for scheduled events are completed in a timely manner.
  • Perform pre-event check on A/V systems to ensure the event will have fully operating equipment prior to scheduled start.
  • Interface with meeting and event POCs on meeting requirements and setup details.
  • Provide outstanding customer service by establishing excellent working relationships with team members, meeting organizers, and vendors.
  • Use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish day-to-day goals and perform a variety of tasks.
  • Maintains a professional and positive attitude in a fast-paced environment with high-visibility
    events.
  • Provide installation services in small and medium sized rooms with the guidance of the AV
    Engineer.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for the role.

Education and Experience

  • Associate's Degree required.
  • Minimum of 3-5years' experience required.

Licensure and Certifications

  • CompTIA Security+ certification, AVXIA (fka- Infocomm) Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) certification, or the ability to obtain the certification within 6 months of hire, preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Expertise in telecommunication and video-conferencing technologies.
  • Ability to use test and calibration equipment for complex system diagnosis and repair.
  • Proficiency in lecture hall control systems, including computer presentation setup and operation.
  • Working knowledge of low-voltage and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of AV installation and construction best practices and standards.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills; maintain a professional and poised demeanor.
  • Technically passionate, resourceful, and motivated learner.
  • Highly adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T3 Secret Clearance.

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 25 lbs.
  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials over 25 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to climb, pull, and lift heavy objects.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.
  • Work schedule: Monday-Friday 6am-2:30p. Flexibility is required, as needed.

Compensation

  • The annual salary/hourly pay range for this position is $67,500-$95,000. Actual salary/hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
