Sr Safety Specialist

Role Overview:

This role is to provide overarching occupational health and safetyexpertiseto one of Apex's most valued clients, a national aerospace manufacturer. Over the last2decadesApex has worked hand and hand with the national aerospace manufacturer helping them achieve theiroccupationalhealth andsafety,ergonomic,environmentalandengineering goals.The incumbent will serve asaSenior Level Safety Specialist(CSP preferred)contractor to theirWichita, Kansasfacility.

This role will be a full-time, onsite position. The client has requested5days a week/8-hour days, with some days covering shift roll over (9am - 5pm).The current role isslatedfor 6 months, with the possibility of extensionbased onperformance,projectneedsand budgetalignment.

The incumbent will executeamajorityoccupational safetyprojects from start to finish.This rolewill routinely involve aBLENDof(1)workplace / shop floorsafetyand riskassessmenttasks,(2)employeesafetyprogrameffectivenessevaluations andcontinuous improvementsupport.

The incumbentinthis safety rolewill also provide project management functionsas needed.Perhaps mostimportantly, the incumbent will be an energetic self-starter with the ability to work independently and produce results within budget andtimeframe.

Your Responsibilities as a Sr Safety Specialist:

• Lead occupational safety consulting projects,conductingexposure assessments and risk evaluations to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses.
• Oversee project planning, execution, and quality assurance in collaboration with Apex client managers.
• Serve asprimarysafety advisor to clients, driving implementation of service plans and tracking performance metrics.
• Provideexpert guidance on regulatory compliance, hazard control strategies, and risk reduction initiatives.
• Develop and deliver safety program audits, training, and corrective action plans aligned with client EHS goals.
• Evaluate workplace controls and recommend engineering, administrative, or PPE-based improvements.
• Interpret OSHA, WISHA, and other regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and proactive risk management.
• Mentor junior staff and provide technical review of reports, safety plans, and field observations.
• Support business development byidentifyingnew EHS opportunities and emerging client needs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of Apex safety methodologies and client service delivery processes

What we are looking for:

• Bachelor's degreerequired-preferably,in a science or engineering field.
• Minimum10+years ofhands-onexperiencerequired,working in the occupational safetyfield, a plus ifthe incumbent has industrial hygiene andergonomic experience as well.
• Examples of desirable(but notrequired) professional credentials:Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP);Certified Safety Professional (CSP);
• Experience inmanufacturing-&-assemblyindustries / heavy industrysettingsa plus.Experience in the aerospace and defenseor automotiveindustrya furtherplus.
• Possess knowledge ofoccupational safetyand industrial hygienetechnical subject matter and how to apply it in real-life settings.Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within theoccupational safetyand industrial hygienefields.
• Possess knowledge of occupational safety and industrial hygiene technical subject matter and how to apply it in real-life settings.Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the occupational safety and industrial hygiene fields.
