Job Summary The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of network infrastructure and structured cabling construction projects from pre-construction through project closeout. This role works closely with the Project Manager and site leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with quality and client expectations. The position combines field coordination and project administration and requires regular presence on the jobsite to support construction activities, coordinate teams, and address project challenges in real time. Responsibilities include scheduling, cost management, procurement coordination, vendor oversight, reporting, and client communication. The Assistant Project Manager helps maintain project documentation, manages logistics for labor and materials, and supports adherence to safety, quality, and operational standards in commercial new construction environments, particularly data center infrastructure projects. Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing network infrastructure and structured cabling construction projects from pre-construction through completion

Support the development and maintenance of project schedules, milestones, and delivery timelines

Assist with budgeting, cost tracking, estimating, invoicing, and financial reporting for assigned projects

Coordinate labor requirements, materials, equipment, and subcontractor activities to support project execution

Collaborate with project leadership to procure materials and manage bill of materials and purchasing processes

Participate in constructability reviews and evaluate materials and products during the pre-construction phase

Assist in preparing and reviewing cost estimates throughout various stages of the project lifecycle

Monitor project progress and ensure compliance with construction codes, safety standards, and quality expectations

Interpret project plans, specifications, and contract requirements for project teams and stakeholders

Support contract preparation and assist with negotiating revisions or changes with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors

Coordinate with field leadership and site personnel to resolve construction challenges and maintain project progress

Facilitate travel and logistics for technicians and project staff as needed

Assist in developing and maintaining project financial plans and schedules

Prepare and maintain project documentation, reports, and project management records

Complete weekly and monthly project reporting and forecasting activities

Support quality assurance and quality control programs throughout project execution

Assist in managing change orders and contract modifications

Communicate project status, updates, risks, and issues to project stakeholders

Participate in meetings with project stakeholders to address project concerns and operational issues

Assist with invoicing and support financial reconciliation activities, including job cost reviews and customer collections

Support implementation of safety and environmental compliance programs

Coordinate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and external project partners

Provide on-site coordination and support during active construction phases

Assist with training and supporting project team members when required

Participate in evaluating construction methods and project processes to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness
Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in construction management, electrical engineering, computer science, business management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

1-3 years of experience supporting or managing projects in commercial construction or new construction data center environments

Experience assisting with project scheduling, cost management, estimating, budgeting, invoicing, and financial tracking

Experience coordinating subcontractors, vendors, procurement processes, and contract administration activities
-
Knowledge of structured cabling systems including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A copper systems and single-mode and multimode fiber infrastructure

Familiarity with data center infrastructure including server racks, cable management systems, containment systems, and power distribution units

Understanding of quality assurance, quality control, and construction safety programs
-
Experience coordinating field operations and supporting collaboration between field and office teams

Experience preparing project documentation, reports, and compliance records for construction projects

Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills

Ability to support client-facing communication and maintain professional relationships with project stakeholders

Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Familiarity with project management and construction software such as MS Project, Primavera P6, Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms

Familiarity with financial or enterprise systems such as NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle is preferred

Familiarity with design and construction tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM platforms is preferred

Ability to work on active construction job sites and support on-site coordination activities
Work Experience
-
1-3 years of experience supporting or managing projects within commercial construction, network infrastructure, or structured cabling environments

Experience working on commercial new construction projects, with preference for data center or mission critical infrastructure environments

Experience participating in client-facing project coordination and communication activities
