About the Job

About the Job:
A postdoctoral position under the supervision of Professor Gregory Handy is available in the School of Mathematics at the University of Minnesota. The position is supported by the Burroughs Wellcome Fund to explore multi-scale dynamics in the brain, and will focus on extending mathematical frameworks to account for dynamic plasticity mechanisms induced by inhibitory subtypes and glial cells.

We seek a candidate with a background in applied mathematics broadly, preferably with an expertise in dynamical systems, stochastic processes or network dynamics in the context of mathematical biology. Prior experience with mathematical/computational neuroscience and scientific computing is also a plus, but not necessary and we encourage all strong candidates with an interest in the project to apply. The preferred start date is Summer/Fall 2026. The position has a maximum teaching load of one course per academic year, depending on the candidates preference, and is renewable for up to three years.

Note that H-1B sponsorship may be provided to those who currently hold a valid visa and are present in the United States.
