Description * Organize and sort documents such as invoices and checks to support business transactions. Apply incoming cash each day. * Verify and record details of transactions, including money received and paid out, and enter the information into ledgers, spreadsheets, or databases. * Compare invoices with purchase orders, identify any differences, resolve issues, and route invoices for the correct approvals. * Work with vendors or purchasing staff to resolve payment issues. * Enter invoices into the accounts payable system and maintain organized files of unpaid invoices. * Prepare journal entries, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other documents, and verify their accuracy. * Pull general ledger information when needed. * Monitor accounts payable to ensure payments are current. * Review and resolve discrepancies found in reports. * Review and correct edit reports to ensure accuracy. * Assist employees and vendors by answering questions about accounts or procedures. * Process employee time records in the payroll system. * Perform other accounting tasks as needed. Skills & Qualifications Must Haves: - 1-2 years' experience in an office environment and demonstrated knowledge of general business practices - Moderate experience using Microsoft Excel - must have work experience using MS Excel - Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment - Demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding service and the ability to work effectively with team members at all levels in the organization - HS Diploma Nice Haves: - 2+ years of experience using Excel Soft Skills: - Strong attention to details - Ability to work on their own and handle tasks - Takes direction well Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Machesney Park, IL.
