We are seeking a Project Manager to join our San Jose Architecture and Interior Design practice. In this role, you will collaborate with our award-winning thought leaders on innovative projects that integrate thoughtful planning, research, sustainability, and architectural excellence. We're looking for someone who enjoys actively leading project teams, fostering a collaborative environment, and building long-term strategic relationships with clients in the science and technology sector.

In this role you will:

  • Collaborate with Principal in evaluation of project requirements and help to negotiate an acceptable owner-architect agreement including the fee and time schedule.
  • Demonstrate task-focused mastery of project scope, profitability, schedule and budget.
  • Complete projects on schedule, within budget and with maximum client satisfaction.
  • Negotiate critical issues with top-level architects, engineers and officials of other organizations and firms.
  • Utilize experience and technical knowledge and monitor quality of the construction documents keeping in mind schedules/budgets and provide coaching/communication as appropriate with team leaders and/or team members who are responsible for work flow/timelines, etc.
  • Develop discipline cost and work-hour budgets for each project and monitor project costs, completion status against budget schedules/timelines.
  • Oversee all correspondence and pertinent documents, making sure they are accurate, sign or obtain signatures and seek legal counsel as appropriate.
  • Coordinate review and evaluation of contractor bids and work with Principal so that award recommendation can be submitted to owner.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership in the absence of and as delegated by the Principal and/or Practice Group Leader keeping lines of communication open with all office management leaders and assist with preparation of client billings prior to submittal for signature.
  • Collaborate with the Principal as requested in the marketing of projects including development of proposals and participation in client interviews.
  • Set an example for team effort through the spirit of cooperation and collaboration while directing, organizing, coaching and mentoring junior staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you will need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or other related field; Master's degree preferred
  • Licensure preferred
  • 8 to 10 years of project management experience required
  • Expertise with Project Management software and Microsoft Office products is necessary
  • Professional experience honed on increasingly more complex projects required
  • Demonstrated experience working on large-scale and multiple smaller-sized, challenging projects simultaneously
  • Team player
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate clearly with team members and clients
  • Ability to leverage technical skills of your teams to deliver projects on budget and on schedule
  • Experience with LEED accreditation and Design/Build project delivery method is preferred
  • Proficiency with Revit, SketchUp and other industry accepted software is preferred

Salary Information:

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA's robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Salary Range: $119,100 to $131,200 depending on qualifications and experience.
