General Description

Manage EDPR's regulatory risk by protecting the company's operational assets and development projects across the Western U.S.in ISO and non-ISO stakeholder processes. Proactively advocate for EDPR's interests in close coordination with our Transmission, Market Operations, Regulatory Compliance, and Regional Development teams.

Main Accountabilites

  • Participate actively at a combination of ERCO, CAISO, and SPP to preserve and expand our opportunities in the market
  • Help craft consistent rules across jurisdictions in line with renewable resources' technical capabilities
  • Identify and advocate on issues of strategic importance to our commercial interest & renewable operations as well as our development pipelines
  • Develop and manage relationships and negotiate solutions with stakeholders, ISO/RTO staff, and regulatory commission staff
  • Leverage relationships with other market participants to advance company positions
  • Actively participate in stakeholder meetings to ensure rules and requirements create stable and effective markets
  • Enhance and preserve the asset value of EDPR projects
  • Engage our internal legal/engineering/operations/etc. resources to prioritize issues and develop positions in PUC regulatory dockets and RTO tariff revisions
  • Participate actively in trade association initiatives related to RTOs and markets
  • Monitor RTO and market rules & requirements and coordinate with Development, Market Operations, and Asset Management to ensure compliance with these requirements
  • Advise outside legal counsel when retained
  • Report to management new issues as they arise
  • Additional duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in public policy, business administration, engineering, law or other similar discipline
  • 5 years in industry with some focus on ISO/RTO markets, SPP, ERCOT, and MISO experience preferred
  • Solid understanding of markets and transmission policy
  • Keen ability to absorb and filter mass quantities of information proven ability to distill and explain complex concepts
  • Proven ability to build consensus and coalitions toward a common goal
  • Ability to identify issues of importance to EDPR

Physical demands & working conditions

Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment

Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds


Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form


Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
