Job Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) has duties and responsibilities related to patient care in the Mobile Clinic environment. The individual displays responsible behaviors, communicates effectively with others and functions as a member of the healthcare team. The CMA reports to the Manager, Mobile Screening Services who is responsible for the administrative supervision, staff development, and orientation of the CMA to the area's policies and procedures. The CMA must demonstrate competency in all skills related to the patient care and patient registration. The CMA maintains an inventory of examination/procedure room supplies, assists in the organization of efficient patient flow, and organizes the clinic environment to assure patient safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with team to assure smooth and efficient patient flow, safety, and clinical operation.
  • Problem solves obstacles throughout process and notifies the Manager of Mobile Screening Services (MMSS) of wait times.
  • Drives a Grady authorized passenger vehicle to and from pre-selected sites.
  • Assists the provider with exams and any tasks related to patient care, including phlebotomy.
  • Maintains and stocks supplies, equipment, and sterilizes instruments.
  • Performs accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
  • Performs customer service tasks such as greeting patients in a professional and friendly manner, answering phones, etc.
  • Updates the MMSS of any occurrences which may be contrary to Grady's High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles.
  • Executes the duties and responsibilities of this role with limited supervision and direction.
  • Performs patient intake and registration, verifies patient demographics and third-party payers' information.
  • Monitors clinic schedule and ensures encounters are closed at the end of the day.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma OR GED. Associate Degree of Applied Science preferred.
  • Completion of an Accredited Medical Assistant training program, such as courses provided through community colleges and/or vocational schools.
  • Certified as a Medical Assistant by an approved National Examination Agency, a CMA/RMA(AAMA), NCMA (NCCT), CCMA(NHA), RMA(AMT), RMA(ARMA), MA(AMCA)
  • Current BLS certification from American Heart Association.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members to foster optimal quality of outpatient care.
  • Demonstrated judgment and ability to work effectively with a diverse population of staff, patients and families.
  • Experience with scheduling, insurance verification and billing preferred.
