Compensation

The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $163,800.00 - $273,000.00. This role is eligible for an incentive target of up to 25 or , based on the achievement of individual and company performance objectives in accordance with the current terms of the incentive program which are subject to change.

As theSearchDirector, youwill ownGrainger.com'send-to end, customer-facing search experience: fromthesearch barand query understanding to how results are ranked, displayed, and organized to help customersquicklyfind and confident select the right products.

You willown theSearchverticalanddefine thestrategy, vision, and roadmapforSearch atGrainger.You will lead the transformation of our search UX by improving how customersinitiatesearches, interpret results, and navigate product setsacross Grainger's catalog.YouwillleverageAI/MLinnovationsin ranking, vector search, andLLM-enabled relevanceto deliver fast and intent-aware results.

You'llpartneracrossengineering, design, AI/ML, analytics, and merchandising to deliverscalable search experiences that help customers efficiently discover products and solutions.

This role requires a product leaderwhocombinesstrong customer empathy andUX instinctswithAI/ML technical depth,analytical rigor,and operational excellence.

You will communicatea clear visionfor the future of search at Grainger and confidently lead product reviews with senior leadership, connecting strategy, roadmaps, and experimentationto measurable business outcomes.

You will report to theGroup Product Manager. This is ahybridrole in Chicago,ILand is open to remote candidates withoccasionaltravel to Chicago.

You Will:

  • Lead a team of 3Sr. Product Managersand2Associate Product Managersto build impactful products.Be passionate aboutdevelopingtheteam, mentoring others,andelevatingtheproduct organization.

  • Defineproductstrategy,OKRs,roadmaps, anddetailed productrequirementsthrougheffectivestakeholderalignment, customer obsession,andstrongcross-functionalcollaboration.

  • Be comfortable defining both long-term strategy and short-term plans to achieveproductvision,anticipatingfuture trends and challenges.

  • Ensureflawlessexecutionacross the product life cyclefrom concept to launch,driving the team toevolve and scale best practicesso we continue to improve.

  • Deliverwell-orchestratedandtimelyreleases,while managing risk, appropriately escalating issues,balancing tradeoffs,and clearly communicating up, down, and across.

  • Own leadershipproductreviewsandstrong, clear strategic communication,with compelling visuals andpowerfuldata-drivenstorytelling.

  • Build an end-to-end understanding of the industrial distribution business. Be a passionate advocate for the customer. Be a subject matter expert on competitors,market and industry trends, andproducts.

You Have:

  • BS/BA degree in computer science, engineering, science,math,or related field. MS or MBA.

  • 10+yearsof progressive leadership in product managementwitha track recordof driving high-performing teams and building impactful products

  • Experience managing a product management team.

  • Experience buildingB2Bproducts.

  • Experience managing a product or productlineP&L.

  • Ideally haveexpertisewithin industrial distribution.
