THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Protective Services Case Aide 2, you will assist professional and technical social services personnel in providing information and referral activities to senior citizens in Allegheny County to help them better understand the community resources available to meet their individual needs as it pertains to safety, support and protective services. You will be expected to maintain a detailed working knowledge of the cultural, physical, and social environment of the geographical area or program and an understanding of the technical procedures and practices involved in performing a brief assessment of individual situations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Notifies licensing entities of allegations of abuse and financial exploitation involving facility employees and recipients of facilities
  • Completing, reviewing, and correcting reports
  • Completing case reviews and contractor service orders
  • Explaining the Protective Services process for relevant programs to callers and walk-ins
  • Investigating requests and complaints
  • Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation
  • Assisting program participants by coordinating assistance with the provider agencies

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week upon successful completion of 6-months of employment. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Aging Case Aide 1; or
  • Two years of public contact work, including one year in a human services program; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
