DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Aging Care Management Supervisor 1 oversees a team of professional and support staff in the Protective Services Unit of the Allegheny County Department of Human Services (DHS), Area Agency on Aging (AAA). The incumbent uses leadership strategies and behaviors that help realize AAA leadership values and supervise Protective Services professionals as well as support staff in the performance of these functions. Candidates selected for this role will supervise a team of caseworkers assigned to investigate reports of elder abuse and neglect. You will ensure your team completes investigations by meeting regulatory and mandated compliance guidelines. This role provides quality assurance, oversight, and clinical direction to assigned staff in regard to initiation of investigations, development of care plans, substantiation, and subsequent interventions. Additional duties and responsibilities include:
- Provide back-up supervisory coverage to other AAA Protective Services supervisory staff in the Protective Services Unit as needed.
- Provide direction to and oversight of subcontracted Protective Services provider agencies ensuring subcontracted agencies are following mandated processes and procedures.
- Discuss potential care plans with caseworkers and support staff authorizing services required for care plan.
- Coordinate and approve emergency interventions
- Implement policy and procedure changes as required by regulatory changes from Pennsylvania Department of Aging.
- Train caseworkers in the rules, regulations, and procedures of the Protective Services program.
- Establish and maintain a working relationship with service providers, subcontractors, Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (PA DHS), Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH), Department of Human Services/Office of Behavioral Health (OBH), and other Area Agency on Aging units.
- Serve as a liaison and representative for the DHS and AAA at outside meetings providing information on the Protective Services program to facilitate and enhance the aging network and public understanding of the program.
- Provide supervision of cases where an emergency response is required or housing needs to be obtained.
- Evaluate staff performance by making recommendations concerning personnel matters with Aging Care Management Supervisor 2.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week after 6 months of employment. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in public or private social work and a Bachelor's Degree; or any equivalent combination of experience and training including successful completion of 12 semester hours of college level courses in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences.

Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
