The Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides information technology leadership and support to the Georgia Institute of Technology, working in partnership with academic and business units to meet the unique needs of a leading research university. OIT serves as the primary source of enterprise-wide information technology and telecommunications services in support of students, faculty, staff, and researchers.

Developers design, develop, and maintain software applications, collaborating with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high-quality solutions. This role is crucial to the testing, debugging, and optimization to ensure application functionality and performance, staying abreast of industry trends and best practices to drive continuous improvement.

The ServiceNow Developer Senior serves as a senior technical contributor responsible for the design, development, and support of enterprise ServiceNow applications and platform capabilities. This role partners closely with product owners, service managers, and other technical teams to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions aligned with institutional priorities. The position requires deep platform expertise, sound architectural judgment, and the ability to mentor other developers while ensuring adherence to platform standards, governance, and best practices.

Job Duty 1 -
Liase with cross-functional teams to enhance project outcomes, share technical insights, and refine software development methodologies.

Job Duty 2 -
Develop and design custom software solutions to meet business needs and enhance operational efficiency.

Job Duty 3 -
Test and debug applications to ensure, quality readability, and optimal performance, perform code reviews, identify performance bottlenecks, and optimize application efficiency.

Implement seamless Integrations of software applications with existing systems and external APIs (Application External Interface).

Provide ongoing maintenance and support for software applications, including troubleshooting and version updates.

Document software development lifecycles, code repositories, and system configurations.

Duties & Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and deploy ServiceNow applications and enhancements across multiple environments

Partner with product owners and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions

Maintain and enhance existing applications with a focus on stability, performance, and upgrade compatibility

Review and approve development work to ensure adherence to platform standards and security requirements

Support platform upgrades and resolve development-related issues introduced by new releases

Contribute to platform documentation, architectural decisions, and operational runbooks

Assist with troubleshooting production issues and implementing long-term corrective solutions

Participate in change review and release governance processes

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent, related experience.

Required Experience
6+ years of relevant experience.

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing for any of the following platforms: ServiceNow, Salesforce, or Mulesoft Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipelines

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree in related discipline or equivalent, related experience.

* 5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience in enterprise or large-scale environments

* 3+ years building and supporting custom applications using App Engine Studio

* 3+ years working within Agile or sprint-based delivery models

Preferred Education

* Bachelors degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred

Preferred Certifications

* ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)

* ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD)

* ITIL 4 Foundation (or equivalent ITSM experience)

Preferred Skills

Strong experience with server-side scripting, including Script Includes, Business Rules, and Scripted REST APIs

Advanced proficiency with GlideRecord, query optimization, and transactional logic

Experience with Flow Designer, including reusable actions, subflows, and orchestration patterns

Solid understanding of ACL design, role hierarchy, and access evaluation order

Experience designing and supporting Configurable Workspace and UI Builder-based experiences

Familiarity with Platform Analytics, including indicators, breakdowns, and dashboards

Experience with REST-based integrations and data exchange using JSON

Strong documentation skills, including technical design notes and implementation guidance

Specialized Skills Required

App Engine & Custom Application Development: Design and build upgrade-safe, maintainable applications using App Engine Studio, scoped applications, and platform APIs.

Workspace & UI Configuration: Develop role-aware, task-focused user experiences using Configurable Workspace, UI Policies, Client Scripts, and UI Builder.

Integration & Automation: Implement and support inbound and outbound integrations using Scripted REST APIs and IntegrationHub patterns where applicable.

Platform Governance & Standards: Apply platform guardrails, naming conventions, access controls, and architectural best practices to ensure long-term platform health.

Agile Delivery & Collaboration: Participate actively in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and change review processes while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Mentorship & Technical Leadership: Provide guidance to mid-level developers and delegated developers, reviewing code and promoting consistent development standards.

SKILLS
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable working directly with customers and stakeholders as needed Experience working with an Agile development methodology Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Proficiency in one of the following languages: JavaScript, C#, Java, or similar. Experience creating connected experiences using APIs, Webhooks, integrations, etc. Experience with Web Development Technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, SCSS/LESS, AngularJS, Bootstrap).
