ABOUT THE ROLE

Fox is seeking a visionary Sr. Director of Media Technology with a "builder" mindset to lead technology strategy across 29 owned and operated Fox television stations. Beyond managing core infrastructure such as servers, virtualization, and newsroom systems, this leader will serve as a primary architect for the next generation of broadcast. You will leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to drive innovation, improve technical resiliency, and achieve operational excellence through automation.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • AI & Innovation Roadmap: Define and execute a long-term technology strategy that moves beyond traditional SDI to SMPTE ST 2110 IP Video and cloud-based playout, specifically identifying opportunities to integrate AI for automated metadata tagging and content discovery.

  • Builder-Led Automation: Drive a "software-defined" approach to broadcast, utilizing AI and scripting to automate repetitive workflows in Newsroom Computer Systems (NRCS) and Media Asset Management (MAM).

  • Operational Efficiency & Cost Reduction: Lead the transition to Cloud/SaaS (AWS, GCP) for scale, cost optimization and reducing the physical footprint of station hardware.

  • Technical Resiliency & Predictive Maintenance: Implement AI-driven monitoring and orchestration to predict hardware failures and automate failovers, ensuring "always-on" reliability for critical on-air operations.

  • System Architecture: Oversee end-to-end media workflows from news gathering to multi-platform distribution (OTT, ATSC 3.0, and Social) ensuring every architectural choice prioritizes future AI extensibility.

  • Project Leadership: Act as the lead stakeholder for multi-million-dollar capital projects, including station builds and centralized master control migrations, with a focus on building modular, resilient systems.

  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Serve as the bridge between Station Engineering Directors and corporate Digital/IT teams to ensure a unified, forward-thinking technology vision.

  • Cybersecurity & Compliance: Partner with InfoSec to harden media pipelines, using AI-enhanced threat detection to protect live news streams without sacrificing speed.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Experience: 12+ years in technology operations, with at least 8 years in a senior leadership role within a large-scale media/broadcast environment

  • AI & Automation Fluency: Hands-on experience with NotebookLM, Cursor, OpenAI/Gemini, and Replit for improving team productivity. Proven track record of building and deploying automated systems; experience with AI/ML tools for media is highly preferred.

  • Newsroom & Editorial Systems: Expert-level familiarity with NRCS (Avid iNews, AP ENPS, SAGA) and the ability to integrate these with MOS-protocol-driven devices for seamless, automated workflows.

  • Playout & Asset Management: Deep experience managing Bitcentral (Oasis/Precis) and Evertz StreamPro/Mediator, with an emphasis on using automation to manage the content lifecycle.

  • Production Automation: Extensive experience with Sony ELC and Ross Overdrive to streamline control room operations and reduce manual intervention.

  • Infrastructure: Deep expertise in IP Networking (SMPTE 2110, NMOS) and Cloud Infrastructure, Secure Data Networks, Virtualization, and Storage (SAN/NAS)

  • Graphics & Infrastructure: Functional knowledge of Chyron or Vizrt,

  • Project Management: Proven track record of managing multi-million-dollar, complex technical rollouts on time and under budget

  • Financial Stewardship: Expert-level Planning and Budgeting (CapEx/OpEx) is required.

  • Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex technical roadmaps for non-technical General Managers and stakeholders.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $179,000.00-225,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
