Job Summary

As the Assistant Plant Manager you will support the plant manager by overseeing the front-line leadership as well as all operations and maintenance personnel to ensure long-term plant strategies and plant objectives are met in this high-paced global motor manufacturing environment at the lowest cost consistent with quality requirement, compliance with Federal, State, Local Safety and Environmental regulations and laws. Much of your focus will be supporting and executing strategic initiatives, managing day-to-day operations, and the development of subordinates to ensure future bench strength for the organization. You will be a key member and your strategic leadership will be sought to suggest and implement operational initiatives to ensure organizational competitiveness and sustainability. The Assistant Plant Manager will ensure employee safety, and oversee the consistent, smooth and timely operation of manufactured products.

Job Description

  • PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monitor the activities of production staff to ensure compliance with the set health/safety regulations and procedures
  • Ensure that all personnel follow proper quality procedures. Manage departments to meet plant quality metrics
  • Lead scrap control and corrective actions
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes, working with cross-functional teams
  • Establish and maintain plant hourly staffing plan. Administer adjustments as necessary. Promote flexibility through cross-training
  • Lead actions and projects necessary to achieve plant metrics
  • Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations
  • Direct production flow consistent with plant lean and inventory objectives
  • Lead and develop the operations and maintenance teams, fostering performance and continuous improvement
  • Manage plant continuous objectives by playing a key contributing role in projects, kaizens, and training events
  • Assist with budgeting, financial reporting, and preparing reports as needed
  • Assume all responsibilities of the plant manager in their absence
  • Analyze data to inform operational decisions or activities.
  • Analyze financial records to improve efficiency.
  • Direct organizational operations, projects, or services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in: Engineering, Business Management or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing leadership roles
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams, including cross-functional groups
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, results-driven environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present operational/financial data to corporate leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in: Engineering, Business Administration (MBA) or other advanced degree with a concentration in operations management, finance, or other related technical areas
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory valuation and basic financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to assess performance, administer personnel policies, and develop talent
  • Previous employment in a manufacturing environment with P&L or cost-center responsibility
  • Ability to partner effectively with finance and operations teams to drive operational efficiency and profitability
