The Role:

This is a hybrid position based in the Orange County/High Desert area of California where you will be in the office 3 days per week. Under the guidance of the Senior Director of Individual Market Sales and Broker Relations, the Director of Individual Market Sales and Broker Relations will be the strategic and business development partner for the Orange County/High Desert (OC/HD) and Providence Health Network (PHN) leadership teams. Your mission will be to foster business growth, drive net new patient acquisition in Medicare, enhance patient retention, and expand individual commercial business across California's vibrant service area.

Based in the dynamic region of Orange County, you'll lead regional Medicare Advantage growth and outreach efforts for the OC/HD service area. You'll craft and execute comprehensive growth plans, partnering seamlessly with physician enterprises, regional leadership, local ministries, and marketing & communications teams. Additionally, you'll coordinate with sales channel partners and consumer education teams to organize and manage impactful sales events, tracking outcomes to ensure the successful achievement of growth targets. Your overarching goal will be to engage stakeholders in promoting PHN and OC/HD businesses, driving both Medicare Advantage growth and commercial membership expansion.

What You'll Do:



  • Strategic Growth Architect: Develop and execute strategic growth priorities and business plans for OC/HD Medicare initiatives in collaboration with the Senior Director of Individual Market Sales and Broker Strategy.
  • Implementation Maestro: Coordinate strategy execution by working collaboratively with divisional, local ministry, physician enterprise, legal compliance, and marketing & communications stakeholders.
  • Relationship Champion: Foster and maintain robust relationships with Medicare sales channel partners, including insurance payors, distribution sales networks, regional insurance agencies, and brokerages.
  • Market Analyst: Present market opportunities and challenges through business case assessments, informing key stakeholders and leadership of growth impacts.
  • Strategic Insight Provider: Deliver strategic insights into Medicare market trends, enabling internal stakeholders to fine-tune strategies and tactics.
  • CRM Collaborator: Work alongside marketing teams on customer relationship management processes following lead collection and identify opportunities for outreach and lead nurturing.
  • Operational Problem-Solver: Identify and resolve operational issues of Medicare Advantage and Commercial products, enhancing member experiences through collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Best Practices Innovator: Develop and implement best practices to elevate Medicare Advantage patient/member onboarding and retention.
  • Compliance Enforcer: Ensure strategies and tactics adhere to federal, state, regulatory agencies, and CMS compliance standards.
  • Providence Ambassador: Serve as the spokesperson for Providence to Medicare industry partners, senior patients, and Medicare members.
  • Relationship Manager: Manage internal and external relationships, covering contracting, compliance, marketing, and finance aspects.
  • Budget Overseer: Ensure expenditures align with budget compliance.
  • In-Service Education Leader: Provide adequate in-service education for OC/HD staff members.
  • Safety Advocate: Maintain a safe work environment, adhering to general safety precautions and standards, reporting any unsafe conditions to supervisors or the safety hotline.


What You'll Bring:



  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Marketing, Communications, or related field (equivalent education/experience); Master's degree preferred.
  • Extensive Experience: 8 years in Medicare Advantage and/or Individual and Family plans, 5 years in management or administrative roles within healthcare (preferably an integrated health delivery network).
  • Broker Relationship Expertise: Proven experience in building and maintaining trusted relationships with the broker community.
  • Healthcare Knowledge: Work experience in healthcare organizations, health systems, health plans, or broker consulting fields.
  • Regulatory Familiarity: Experience operating in a regulatory environment and communicating with the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
  • Business Acumen: Proficiency in overall business strategy and analysis, including marketing, quality, and financial analytics.
  • Event Coordination: Experience in event planning and coordination (Preferred).
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written, presentation, and verbal).
  • California Market Insight: Deep knowledge of the California Medicare Market, including Brokers, MCOs, health plans, Medical Group, and IPA landscape.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of healthcare insurance requirements from CMS, Covered California, and the Department of Managed Health Care (DMCH).
  • Product Knowledge: Insight into commercial and Medicare insurance products, sales, and distribution channels.
  • Innovative Thinking: Ability to design new strategies and pivot plans creatively.
  • Program Management: Excellent program management experience, including developing strategic plans, metrics, and monitoring processes.
  • Objective Accomplishment: Proven effectiveness in achieving goals within a complex organization.
  • Geographical Management: Demonstrated capability in managing initiatives and functions within a dispersed organization.
  • Planning Skills: Superior planning and prioritization abilities, driving multiple concurrent programs/projects.
  • Data Analysis: Skill in analyzing data, recognizing errors, and developing executive summaries based on interpretive findings.
  • Open to Responsibility: Willingness to accept new responsibilities.
  • Driving Requirements: Compliance with state laws and requirements for driving as part of the role.
