Kennedy Jenks is seeking a Senior Technical Director to provide nationwide technical leadership across major projects, initiatives, and long-term practice development.


This is a high-impact role for a seasoned technical leader who thrives on solving complex challenges, shaping technical direction, and influencing how Kennedy Jenks delivers quality, performance, innovation, and growth.


You'll partner with executive leadership, project teams, and key clients to guide technical excellence, strengthen client confidence, and advance forward-thinking solutions across the firm.


What You'll Do

As a Senior Technical Director, you'll contribute across technical strategy, quality leadership, client partnership, innovation, and development of future technical leaders.



  • Lead technical strategy: Set direction and standards across complex, high-risk projects and initiatives.
  • Guide quality and risk decisions: Provide senior-level oversight and peer review that supports quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Resolve complex challenges: Bring clarity to ambiguity, evaluate technical risk, and help teams move critical decisions forward.
  • Advance innovation: Champion improved methodologies, tools, and emerging technologies that strengthen delivery and long-term practice growth.
  • Support major pursuits: Advise on technical approach, delivery strategy, and risk considerations for priority opportunities.
  • Build technical leadership capacity: Mentor Technical Directors, senior engineers, and future leaders while representing Kennedy Jenks in industry and client forums.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: 15+ years of progressive technical experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Project background: Demonstrated record leading complex, high-risk projects or initiatives.
  • Licenses: Professional Engineer (PE) license required.


Kennedy Jenks supports a healthy work-life balance and utilizes a hybrid model of home and office work, with a minimum of two days per week in the office. This approach empowers our people to thrive, collaborate, and do their best work.


Salary range for this position is anticipated to be $200,000 to $250,000, and may vary based upon education, experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications, and geographic location.
