The VP, Product - Provider will be a visionary and strategic leader responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of Provider technology and service offerings. This executive will drive product innovation, execution, and market adoption, ensuring that solutions meet the evolving needs of healthcare organizations, enhance patient outcomes, and deliver business value. The VP will collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams, clients, and industry partners to maintain a competitive edge in the dynamic healthcare technology landscape.

Hybrid in MN/DC : This position follows a hybrid schedule with four in-office days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

Product Strategy & Innovation

  • Define and execute a product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Provider solutions, aligning with organizational goals and market trends to simplify healthcare
  • Drive disruptive innovation incubating netnew products, platforms, and business models that unlock new revenue streams across Optum, Optum Insight, and UnitedHealth Group (UHG)
  • Lead the design and delivery of AIfirst, technologyenabled products and services that address complex healthcare challenges across the Provider segment
  • Establish clear success metrics, roadmaps, and outcomebased KPIs to ensure products deliver measurable business value, customer satisfaction, and market differentiation

GotoMarket & Market Leadership

  • Formulate and execute gotomarket strategies, identifying opportunities for new clients, markets, and service offerings
  • Serve as a thought leader and trusted advisor internally and externally, translating market insights, client needs, and competitive intelligence into actionable product strategies
  • Provide marketleading perspectives on disruptive capabilities, emerging technologies, and innovative development approaches for simplifying healthcare

Executive Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as an executive partner to senior leaders across Optum, UHG, Technology, and Operations to align product strategy with business goals
  • Communicate regularly with enterprise executives, providing clear strategy updates, performance insights, and investment outcomes
  • Build and manage deep relationships with key clients and partners to ensure longterm satisfaction, loyalty, and adoption

Product Delivery & Experience Excellence

  • Lead datadriven product decisionmaking grounded in consumer insights, usability research, market analysis, and design thinking
  • Partner closely with engineering and technology teams to deliver highvelocity product enhancements using agile methodologies
  • Own ongoing product performance, operational health, and customer outcomes postlaunch

Financial & P&L Accountability

  • Own and grow a significant product P&L, delivering against revenue, IOI, and profitability targets
  • Partner with lineofbusiness leaders to define and manage a multiyear product investment roadmap, including capital investments, ensuring ROI validation at the Optum Insight and enterprise levels
  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and performance management to drive sustainable growth

People & Organizational Leadership

  • Build, lead, and scale a worldclass product team
  • Attract, develop, and retain top product talent while fostering a highperformance, innovationdriven culture

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience successfully launching large-scale product innovations and delivering measurable results in the Provider domain of healthcare

  • Proven ability to analyze complex market opportunities and develop creative solutions to a wide variety of unique market problems

  • Demonstrated track record of active collaboration, engagement, oversight, and strategy development of key growth opportunities

  • Experience leading and growing the P&L of a solutions business in a healthcare or technology organization

  • Demonstrated visionary thinking and ability to translate business strategies that create or sustain competitive advantage

  • Track record of success acting as an innovative thought leader and business partner to executives across multiple business units

  • Experience functioning as an organization's authority and established expert to develop solutions based on an understanding of the business environment, competitive landscape, and objectives

  • Experience managing a team of high performing leaders supporting a portfolio of ideation and incubation initiatives

  • Experience motivating, developing, coaching, and guiding people in a matrixed organization

  • Experience managing a globally distributed team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA / Master's degree

  • Experience supporting Payers, Employers, Federal/State government and/or Emerging Market clients

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $225,000 to $375,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
