Get to Know Your Team: Hillcrest Medical Center is a 656-bed hospital that includes The Alexander Burn Center, The Peggy V. Helmerich Women's Health Center, Kaiser Rehabilitation Center, the latest technology for the treatment of cancer, and the Oklahoma Heart Institute. The lactation consultant educates pregnant women in all aspects of prenatal and postnatal care. The lactation consultant provides guidance and support for pregnant women to promote breastfeeding. Job Requirements: Ability to determine the educational needs of a client and/or family Ability to explain the criteria used to evaluate education programs Ability to use new technology and teaching methodologies Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to use principles of adult education Demonstrate the ability to provide age-specific care that supports psychosocial functioning and facilitates lifestyle changes Demonstrate the ability to help patients understand the breastfeeding process Preferred Job Requirements: Two (2) years of lactation education experience International Board Certified Lactation Consultant certification (IBCLC)
