Overview

Abacus Technology is seeking a Computer Technician to provide technical support for a variety of IT issues for the Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) at Fort Hood. This is a full-time position.



Responsibilities

    Perform Tier 1 and Tier 2 deskside incident resolution of workstations, printers, and peripheral devices.
  • Configure and deliver ITR requested on customer Change Orders (COs).
  • Monitor and respond to hardware and software problems utilizing a variety of hardware including printers and software testing tools and techniques.
  • Ensure proper computer system setup/operation so that end users can accomplish business tasks.
  • Contact warranty support for repairs when and where available.
  • Receive, prioritize, document, and actively resolve end user help requests.
  • Assist with network hardware.
  • Participate in special projects as required
  • Assist with asset management and inventory of IT assets.
  • Work with System Administrators to maintain network resources.
  • Approve systems for reimage/wipe and move to correct system active OU or system deleted OU.
  • Inspect for functionality and remove all data from ITR turned into the QC hand receipt and process it for return Stock hand receipt.
  • Manage DOD safe stored in the QC area.
  • Perform new config report for all ITR purchased and supplied by Logistics.
  • Documenting all task responses, labor and material usage data as required.


Qualifications

5+ years experience in a technical support role. HS diploma or GED. Must be A+ or Network+ certified (or equivalent certification in compliance with DoD 8570 IAT I). Experience installing, configuring, repairing, and maintaining software, hardware, configurations, and peripherals. Able to isolate equipment/system/software malfunctions and restore failed equipment to good working order. Experience conducting operational checks and replacing defective parts and assemblies. Knowledge of networking concepts such as cable making/repair, IP address schema, and LAN implementation and configuration. Able to apply technical knowledge and training to solve routine and complex problems in the maintenance of digital computers, configuration, and peripheral components. Able to maintain knowledge of diagnostic and help desk request tracking tools, as well as remote and in-person, hands-on help at the desktop level. Able to maintain current knowledge of relevant technology. Solid customer service skills, including good communication and the ability to demonstrate professionalism. Must be a US citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
