Position Summary

Join the Advanced Materials and Technology Team as an R&D Engineering Intern for summer through fall 2026 (ability to do multiple co-op rotations preferred). This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide support in polymer compound development, material analysis, and testing in our Wickliffe, OH location. You will work closely with experienced engineers to contribute to innovative hose and tubing projects for various applications.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the R&D team, taking directions from engineers on active projects
  • Operate compounding/extrusion equipment (e.g., twin screw, mix bowl, torque rheometer)
  • Conduct analyses and/or tests to evaluate mechanical, chemical, and rheological properties of developed compounds
  • Assist with pilot scale tubing production for prototype hose builds with new materials as necessary
  • Participate in a High-Performance Team environment, contributing to all functions as required
  • Present project plans, data, and results to the team, generating PowerPoint presentations and other forms of reports for review
  • Support other engineers with projects and tasks as needed
  • Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to a zero-incident culture.

Qualifications

Qualifications
  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering, polymer engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science and engineering, or a closely related field, with at least two years of academic coursework completed
  • Preferred: basic polymer background knowledge, in thermoplastics and/or rubber
  • Excellent hands-on skills
  • Strong communication skills for presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to Parker facilities, local universities, and suppliers
