The Opportunity:

The Human Resources Coordinator I will provide basic human resources administrative support for the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) Human Resources Business Center (HRBC). The HR Coordinator I will be required to complete all HR functions that are assigned by their supervisors and provide clerical support to the colleges that they are overseeing. The HR Coordinator I will handle all daily administrative tasks and HR duties of the organization. They assist HR Coordinators II's and III's in performing all HR transactions for their assigned areas. The tasks of the HR Coordinator I include document processing and maintenance, payroll processing, on/off boarding of employees, HR functions through Workday and providing clerical support to all faculty and students.

Responsibilities:


  • Provide first point of HR customer service for the hiring needs of OPS hourly employees, including Undergrad and Graduate students such as UTA/ULA's within the College of Engineering and Computer Sciences.

  • Maintain all onboarding needs for the hiring of OPS hourly employees, including informing and following up with new candidates regarding their new hire tasks, coordinating and completing I-9s, as well as interfacing with Global HR for international hires.

  • Complete and finalize all off-boarding needs, such as requested terminations for OPS hourly employees.

  • Coordinate and process timekeeping, including retroactive payments, one-time payments, and payroll approval.

  • Connect employees/candidates with appropriate departments for other services as needed.

  • Monitor the help workspace inbox and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.

  • Proactively email and correspond with candidates to answer any questions or concerns.

  • Maintain data integrity with accurate up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.

  • Effectively and efficiently reviews, updates, and maintains data integrity when receiving reports.

  • Complete all administrative HR tasks that may arise, especially during high season, from the Dean, Associate Deans, Chairs, Faculty, HR Coordinators II's & III's, HR Partner, and HR Director.


Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 0+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.

  • Higher education experience or familiarity with academic HR environments is a plus.

  • Related HR certification (PHR, SHRM CP, or equivalent) or progress toward certification preferred.

  • Experience providing frontline HR support, responding to inquiries from employees, faculty, staff, or students.

  • Experience with high volume HR transaction processing, data entry, or administrative support requiring strong attention to detail.

  • Experience using Workday or a similar HR information system for personnel actions and reporting.

  • Collaborative approach with a focus on teamwork, open communication, and supporting efficient HR operations.

  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.

  • Strong data accuracy and tracking skills to manage multi step HR actions and deadlines.

  • Ability to take initiative, manage competing priorities, and exercise sound judgment in routine HR decision making. Notary Public certification preferred.
