  • Patients undergoing a transplant, who have cancer, or are getting cancer treatment, often have a higher risk of getting an infection. Your immune system helps your body protect itself from getting an infection. However, after a bone marrow transplant your immune system is weak and at risk for infection. Additionally, cancer and chemotherapy can damage your immune system by reducing the number of infection-fighting white blood cells.

Under general supervision, and with medical consultation and direction, performs physical, psycho-social assessment; establishes medical diagnosis; orders and evaluate diagnostic tests; manages follow up care; does other related work as required. Responsibilities include performing physical examinations, developing treatment plans, ordering and interpreting lab tests and results, along with providing preventative healthcare and counseling.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  1. A college degree as a Physician's Assistant from a recognized university, affiliated with a medical school
  2. Please refer to the Medical Staff Guidelines for certifications and credentialing applicable to this position.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

  1. Two to five years of experience with a medical practice setting where diagnosis, treatment and patient education were the focus of the role
