Job Title *Membership & Billing Account Services Specialist (Expert Level)*
Location *Kaiser Permanente - Rio San Diego* San Diego, CA 92108 *KP Onsite Position* Remote option may be available after completion of training and once QA scores meet Operations Standards and are approved by the Operations Manager. Assignment Details * *Assignment Length:* 9 months (initial) * *Start Dates:* * May 4, 2026 - 15 seats * June 22, 2026 - 15 seats * *Total Openings:* 30 * *Shift:* 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM PST (may vary slightly upon completion of training) * *Team Track:* Apex, ATR Direct, Source, Randstad, Rose, TekSystems Position Overview The Membership & Billing Account Services Specialist is responsible for performing account maintenance, billing reconciliation, reporting, and customer service activities in support of Kaiser Permanente's membership and financial operations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. Top Daily Responsibilities * Membership processing * Preparation and validation of information * Phone-based customer support * Finance-related activities Key Responsibilities * Identify, research, and reconcile billing payments to ensure accurate eligibility determination, revenue, and membership records * Set up and maintain member data, including enrollments, corrections, retroactive adjustments, and terminations * Support eligibility inquiries and ensure billing accuracy and timely distribution * Interact with purchaser benefit administrators to explain health plan policies and contractual provisions related to membership and billing * Resolve billing discrepancies, payment issues, and delinquencies * Assist purchaser contacts, sales, and service representatives with membership accounting questions and issue resolution * Perform coding, batching, scanning, and indexing of documents for workflow imaging systems * Assign medical record numbers and support the generation and distribution of contracts and member ID cards * Provide office and facilities support, including mail handling, filing, document retrieval, ordering office supplies, and photocopying * Work collaboratively with internal teams, external customers, and vendors to resolve service-related issues * Collect and monitor productivity metrics and customer service quality measures * Participate in team-based projects and continuous improvement initiatives * Assist with training activities as required * Facilitate communication across lines of business and with other Kaiser Permanente departments * Participate in purchaser performance evaluations and performance target-setting activities * Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications * Minimum *2 years of experience* in accounting, finance, or a related field (preferred) * Strong proficiency in math, data entry, typing, spelling, and grammar (testing required) * Demonstrated success in a *customer service-focused environment* * Ability to analyze, diagnose, and resolve quantitative and qualitative problems * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Ability to work effectively in a *team-based environment* * Computer proficiency in a *Windows/PC-based environment* * Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities * Strong conflict resolution and decision-making skills * Willingness to learn new tasks and adapt to evolving business needs Desired Skills * Analytical thinking * Strong attention to detail * Customer-centric service model Testing & Compliance Requirements * *AAR V2 Assessment:* Must have a recommended score *above the 31st percentile* * Full detailed report must be uploaded into *Fieldglass* * *Computer Literacy Test:* Must score *above the 31st percentile* * Full detailed report must be uploaded into *Fieldglass* Attendance & Time-Off Policy * *No time off permitted during training or the first 90 days of the assignment* * No time off allowed during holidays (federal holiday exceptions may apply) * Any time-off needs within the first three months-including doctor appointments-will disqualify a candidate from being a good fit for this role *Job Type & Location*This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
