Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Instructional Designer for the School of Nursing. The primary role of the Instructional Design position is to provide strategic leadership in the integration of instructional technologies to advance teaching excellence and student learning.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Works collaboratively with faculty, academic leadership, and support units to enhance course design, instructional delivery, and student engagement through intentional, evidenceinformed use of educational technology.
  • Offers consultation, training, and problem resolution.
  • Contributes to institutional priorities by guiding pedagogical innovation, promoting effective and inclusive teaching practices, and supporting continuous improvement in instructional quality.

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience with two or more years of relevant work experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in the Canvas Learning Management System.
  • Extensive knowledge of adult learning principles and relevant technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred master.
  • Familiar in at least one major authoring platform to develop interactive learning objects, assessments, and multimedia lessons that integrate with LMS environments through SCORM or xAPI standards.
  • Familiar with instructional technology AV and recording equipment as well as multimedia editing tools.
  • Strong project management and collaboration skills.
  • Conceptual leadership grounded in learning science.
  • Proficiency with rapid authoring tools is required; experience working with faculty is preferred.

Equipment Utilized
  • The position requires the regular use of a computer and expertise with the following software: Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Content will support a variety of learning experiences, including classroom-based instruction, synchronous remote learning, blended/hybrid formats, self-paced e-learning, microlearning, videos, and job aids.
  • This role may also involve converting existing in-person course content for delivery on various online platforms.
  • Instructional Designers collaborate with team members and subject matter experts to ensure all work aligns with the SN's mission, project goals, and established timelines.
