Lathrop GPM, one of the nation's leading law firms, has an immediate opening for a Environmental, Product Liability & Tort Litigation Paralegal in our Kansas City, MO or St. Louis, MO locations. The paralegal provides comprehensive litigation support to attorneys handling complex environmental, product liability, personal injury, mass tort and wrongful death matters in state and federal courts. This position supports all phases of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing document-intensive cases. Litigation Support * Support attorneys in all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, hearings, trials, and appeals. * Draft, review, and format pleadings, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, deposition notices, correspondence, and exhibits. * File documents electronically in state and federal courts (CM/ECF) and ensure compliance with court rules and local rules. Discovery & E Discovery Management * Manage complex, high volume discovery involving technical, scientific, and regulatory documents. * Coordinate document collection, review, production, and the preparation of privilege logs. * Maintain organized and accurate electronic and physical case files in the firm's document and case management systems. * Interface with e discovery vendors and assist with review platforms as needed. Environmental & Regulatory Case Support * Assist with research and analysis related to federal and state environmental laws and regulations (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act). * Compile and organize environmental records, permits, sampling data, enforcement histories, compliance documents, and administrative records. * Assist attorneys with agency filings, regulatory submissions, and administrative proceedings. Product Liability & Tort Case Support * Assist with review and organization of product design documents, manufacturing records, testing data, safety reports, warnings and labeling materials, recalls, and regulatory submissions. * Compile and organize medical records, incident reports, expert materials, and damages documentation. * Support fact investigation, including chronology development and issue tracking across multiple plaintiffs or defendants. Trial & Deposition Preparation * Coordinate depositions, expert discovery, and witness interviews. * Prepare deposition and trial materials, including exhibit binders, witness files, exhibit lists, deposition designations, and demonstratives. * Provide deposition, mediation and in court support as needed. Case Management & Practice Support * Track litigation deadlines and coordination with central firm docketing to maintain case calendars to ensure timely filings and compliance with court and agency requirements. * Communicate with clients, courts, agencies, experts, and opposing counsel at the direction of attorneys. * Paralegal certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Minimum of three years' prior litigation paralegal experience, preferably in environmental, product liability, mass tort, personal injury, regulatory, or complex civil litigation within a law firm. * Strong understanding of civil litigation procedures and court filing requirements. * Excellent communication, organizational, writing, and document management skills. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office, document management systems, and E discovery tools.
