Wage Schedule: 1st year $70.90
2nd year $80.88
Thereafter $85.47


Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Assumes responsibility and authority to implement real-time actions to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the SDG&E Electric Transmission Grid and associated interconnections.
  • The TSO must follow all SDG&E, CAISO, WECC, NERC and FERC policies, standards and procedures during normal and emergency conditions.
  • Maintains electric transmission system to assure continuity of service; prepares check and direct orders for electric transmission system switching operation; operates electric supervisory control devices including adjusting system voltage; performs emergency limited substation switching.
  • Directs restoration of transmission facilities; maintains records and operating diagrams; prepares reports; performs other related duties as assigned or required.


Qualifications

Experience, Qualifications, and Requirements:



  • Must understand basic electrical circuits involving voltage, current and power
  • Must be proficient in reading System Operating Diagrams, Control and Protection Notes, and operating procedures
  • Must have demonstrated the ability to absorb formal training and schooling
  • Must have knowledge of construction and apparatus for transmission and distribution facilities
  • Must have complete knowledge of Authorization procedures and steps required to issue Clearances, Limited Clearances, Intercompany Clearances, Holds, OK On-or-Near, and OK's
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency in researching and writing Electric Switching Orders (routine and trouble)
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency in multi-tasking (handling more than one task at a time)
  • Must have knowledge of restoration procedures for high voltage equipment after service has been interrupted
  • Must have typing ability and be able to work with basic PC software (E-mail, Word, Excel, Access, and the Internet)
  • Must have legible handwriting
  • Must be able to distinguish red, blue, black and green colors
  • Must have good hearing
  • Must be willing to work shift work including weekends and holiday shifts
  • Must be willing to work under direct supervision
  • Successful bidders will be expected to complete the 6-10 month TSO Training Program and pass the NERC certification test within 90 days of commencing assignment. NERC certification is required to perform TSO duties.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • 18 months experience as a Distribution System Operator or Transmission System Operator
  • NERC Certification as a Transmission Operator or higher

  • Knowledge of electric grid/power systems operations.




This is a Union Represented position - Represented by Local IBEW 465.
