Senior Systems Engineer

Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid)

Pay: $60-$65/hour

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Systems Engineer with deep expertise in enterprise infrastructure, identity management, and cloud technologies. This contract-to-hire role focuses on Azure, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and virtualization platforms, supporting global IT operations and leading complex technical initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer Azure, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Intune, OneDrive)
• Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Windows Server environments
• Develop automation and scripting solutions using PowerShell, Ansible, or similar tools
• Support virtualization platforms (Azure, VMware vSphere) in multi-site environments
• Troubleshoot Tier 3 issues using system logs, monitoring tools, and diagnostics
• Lead and contribute to infrastructure projects with minimal supervision
• Collaborate with IT teams to resolve escalations and improve system performance
• Create technical documentation and support team training
• Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours support as needed

Qualifications (Required)

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 15+ years of total IT experience (required)
• 10+ years of Active Directory and automation/scripting experience
• 7+ years of systems troubleshooting, virtualization, and enterprise infrastructure
• Experience with data structures (XML, JSON, YAML, WQL)

Preferred

• Experience with Exchange, Mimecast, SCCM, SolarWinds, or Azure Arc
• Technical certifications and exposure to M&A environments

Skills

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Experience working independently on complex systems
