  • Seton Medical Center Harker Heights is an 83-bed acute care hospital offering services such as Cardiology, Emergency Services and a Level IV Trauma Designated ER, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Total Joint Replacement, Gastroenterology, Diagnostic Services and more.

Responsibilities

  • The Histotechnician I (non-certified) functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for pre-analytical specimen preparation and processing; embedding, microtomy and maintaining the equipment under the direction of Histology/Pathology department leadership, Pathologist or designee.
  • The position may also perform specimen grossing of surgically removed tissue under the supervision of the Pathologist.
  • All duties performed will be within the guidelines set forth by regulatory and hospital guidelines to maintain, manage and assure specimen integrity.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Associates degree in histotechnology, laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology, obtained from an accredited institution, OR education / training equivalent.

  • Must possess good writing and verbal skills

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Experience within a clinical or anatomic pathology department.

  • 6 months' experience as Histotechnician.
