Database Administrator

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Database Engineer - Hybrid for a 12+ month contract to hire opportunity located in Seattle, WA or Addison, TX. This position requires a minimum of 3 days per week onsite.

Summary:

Looking for a database engineer with 5+ years of experience who will be responsible for tasks that keep the platform stable to mitigate overall platform risk. Must have the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems quickly and communicate proposed solutions. Ability to provide coaching to junior team mates. Will be a liaison between technology and business teams.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle
• Utilize multiple architectural components in design and development of client requirements
• Collaborate with development teams to understand data requirements and ensure the data architecture is feasible to implement and subsequently implemented accurately
• Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional requirements
• Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, data quality controls, dependency and workload management
• Document and communicate required information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality
• Adhere to team delivery/release process and cadence pertaining to code deployment and release
• Identify gaps in data management standards adherence, and work with appropriate partners to develop plans to close gaps
• Lead concept and experimentation testing and synthesize the results to validate and improve analytical solution
• Monitor key performance indicators and internal controls
• Mentor more junior Data Engineers and coach the team on CI-CD practices and automating tool stack

Requirements:

• 5+ years experience in Database management
• Strong Oracle database skills, including Oracle Exadata
• Able to troubleshoot and tune SQL performance issues
• Experience with NoSQL DB, Cassandra/CQL/DataStax tools
• Firm understanding of the core concepts of Cassandra and able to assist with troubleshooting problems
• Experience with Oracle GoldenGate replication technology
• Experience with the development models such as Agile and SDLC
• Experience in data management best practices
• Experience with C Shell Scripting
• Some Project management skills required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to learn both new and aging technologies as needed
• Detail orientated

Desired skills:

• Experience with IBM's DataStage
• Experience working in an Agile team
• NDM (ConnectDirect) and OpenSSH familiarity
• Autosys and DataStage experience

Pay range: $58.32 - $66.32 per hour
