HDR is seeking a Senior CEI Project Engineer for our Transportation Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) program in Tallahassee, FL to direct complex and specialized construction engineering administration and inspection programs, plan and organize the work of subordinate and staff members, develop and/or review policies, methods, practices, and procedures, and review programs for conformance with department standards.

We will count on you to:

  • Manage day-to-day CEI project operations to ensure compliance with contract requirements, plans, specifications, governing regulations, and safety standards.

  • Provide technical guidance to the project team, interpret plans and specifications, and resolve field issues while documenting and communicating decisions clearly.

  • Review and evaluate Contractor submittals, including RFIs, CPM schedules, and claim packages, and provide well-supported recommendations.

  • Ensure CEI documentation, materials records, and correspondence meet contract, CPAM, and quality standards.

  • Lead and coordinate CEI project staff, ensuring high-quality documentation, communication, and adherence to internal policies and procedures.

  • Lead project meetings and coordinate with contractors, clients, and stakeholders to support progress and issue resolution.

  • Manage project budgets, track labor usage, and support overall financial performance and forecasting.

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, partners, and other project stakeholders to support successful project delivery.

  • Mentor and develop junior team members, providing guidance in technical, administrative, and leadership growth areas.

  • Support business development by identifying future work opportunities and participating in pursuit activities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • FDOT Advanced MOT
  • Road and/or bridge construction experience
  • CTQP Quality Control experience
  • 3 years of construction/transportation project leadership
  • MS in Civil Engineering or related discipline
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field
  • 10 years related experience in various aspects of construction including estimating, bidding, preparing purchase orders and subcontracts, scheduling, and field engineering
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); Bluebeam, estimating & scheduling software, and web-based document collaboration software
  • Experience developing and managing construction engineering and inspection programs
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
