Moog Actuation & Avionics Business Unit (Space and Defense Group) is looking for aSr Supplier Quality Engineer. The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer has the responsibility to evaluate supplier performance and take action to improve the cost effectiveness and cycle times associated with supplied products.

Responsibility for optimizing appraisal and prevention costs associated with supplied parts, materials and services, through complex statistical analysis and problem solving. In addition, the Senior Supplier Quality Engineer provides technical direction to Supplier Quality Technicians and has significant input to their performance reviews and is a technical resource for the Supplier Quality Engineers in the areas of statistics, department operations and procedures and the supplier base.

To be considered for this role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor's degree and six years of technical experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer or related experience.

  • 6 years of experience should include inspection planning, supplier evaluations and corrective actions.

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance.

As a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Inspection Planning: Develop and implement plans for receiving inspection including source inspection, ship-to-stock, skip lot and standard plans for commodities where appropriate. Implement improvements based upon experience. Provide statistical expertise for SPC, Design Of Experiments, Data Analysis and planning and Capability studies for assigned commodities and as required to support Supplier Quality Engineers and supplier personnel.

  • Data Collection And Analysis: Collect and analyze supplier performance data from the MDR data base, IHS, supplier facilities, and supplier corrective action systems to describe supplier performance and reduce appraisal and prevention costs associated with the supplier quality assurance approach for selected commodities, suppliers and/or individual items.

  • Problem Solving: Identification and resolution of the root cause for rejections of supplied products at Moog. This can include examination of drawings, specification, inspection planning, quality systems and procedures, gauging/measurement equipment and coordination with supplier and Moog personnel.

  • Personnel: The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer provides technical direction to Supplier Quality Engineering Technicians and provides formal input to task scheduling and performance reviews.

  • Training: Train Supplier Quality Engineers and Technicians in the Moog Supplier Quality Systems and procedures, including documentation, quality philosophy, ethics and travel rules. Also, train suppliers in the application of statistical methods in pursuit of variation reduction.

  • Supplier Evaluation: Perform initial and follow-up surveys at selected suppliers as required. Develop systems to report supplier performance as requested.

  • Department Operation: Maintain detailed working level knowledge of supplier quality assurance systems and procedures to explain Moog supplier quality methodology to customers, suppliers and Moog internal personnel.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $95,000.00-$120,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
